NZOSS AGM 2006 - Details
The 2006 AGM of the New Zealand Open Source Society has been held. Thankyou to all those who participated.
In order to allow maximum participation there will be an IRC channel and a phone conference facility available.
Voting at the AGM will be done via the NZOSS website poll system. Please note that you must be registered on the site and logged on in order to vote as well as to access some of the materials to be discussed during the meeting.
The #nzoss channel on irc.nzoss.org.nz will be active for those unable to use the phone conference facility. This channel may be moderated depending on the volume and type of traffic.

Patent on Load Balancing Coming Soon
In February the Patent Office accepted a patent application from Microsoft patenting load balancing based on communicating about load between servers. The patent basically deals with the concept of having the load balancer server talk to the other servers to work out which one is best to give new data to. The patent dates from June 2003 where it was filed in the United States. It wasn't until a year later, in May 2004 that it was filed in New Zealand.
