New Infrastructure Sponsor: Prodigi.nz
In August, after a decade of reliable services, Catalyst.Net (the parent company of CatalystCloud) decided to end their sponsorship of the NZOSS' web hosting infrastructure - many thanks to them for so many years of generous support.
Thanks to that great resource, we created a substantial array of publicly available libre (free and open source software) web services which we run under the NZOSS and newer Iridescent domains, nzoss.nz and iridescent.nz. Many organisations used our services during Covid, especially our BigBlueButton video conferencing system! The end of the sponsorship meant that we had to confront the prospect of decommissioning all those volunteer-run services that many people in Aotearoa NZ (and abroad) use regularly, including civil society organisations whose ongoing activities we want to support!
Thankfully, another, newer Aotearoa New Zealand-based company has stepped into the breach, offering us an amazing sponsorship deal! Thanks to Dan from Prodigi, we have moved all of our systems from Catalyst's cloud infrastructure to a powerful dedicated server array, still onshore! We're very grateful to Prodigi for the capabilities with which they've entrusted us, and we're excited to offer even more new libre services to demonstrate to NZers how compellingly capable libre software solutions - mostly webservices - really are, today! We encourage you to consider Prodigi for any hosting and IT consultancy services you (or your business or organisation) might have!
