Kia ora koutou katoa, I am a passionate supporter of free equitable and fair access to information, I believe there is a strong alignment between the values of the open source communities and the role of libraries. With libraries offering more and more digital content this will only grow stronger. I support both because I know from experience that both offer people the ability to learn and grow, both allow access to information that empowers and changes lives and both have the potential to uplift not just one person but our broader whanau and communities. I chose to use Linux and open source software whenever possible, I love being able to configure my system and learn without restriction and even sometimes break it. I am a member of NZOSS because I see a community of like minded passionate individuals who are willing to put the time and effort into fighting to advocate, support and promote Open Source.
