Microsoft praises open source guidelines

On the new IT News web site mnet.net.nz there is an article about Microsoft reaction to the new version of the SSC Legal Guidelines on open source. Brett Roberts of Microsoft says that the document does a good job of explaining the complex issues around licensing and indemnification.

The NZOSS played a substantial part in reviewing the original document and preparing a report that was used in the second release of the document. It shows that the NZOSS was capable of providing meanfull and well considered input to Government process. Microsoft's priase of the second version also indicates that balance was achieved, without undue pandering to open source interests.
